Project Manager - Estimator
Summary
Will estimate projects and work within the organization to grow existing business and develop new customers. Effectively monitor and manage acquired and assigned projects to ensure progress and profitability.

- Creates estimates for project budget and bid numbers.
- Manage multiple projects and/or multiple trade disciplines (mechanical, sheet metal, plumbing, electrical, insulation, etc.) as determined by the project(s).
- Prepare material and equipment submittals for approval by engineer.
- Order project materials, equipment and supplies with estimator, superintendent and/or purchasing agent.
- Effectively manage material and equipment costs for the project to stay within or below budget.
- Effectively manage labor allocations to successfully complete the work with the fewest amount of hours as possible, while maintaining quality and the project schedule.
- Enforce MCC safety practices and procedures on the project and develop site specific safety plan.
- Effectively manage time delays with client or general contractor.
- Effectively manage and negotiate changes in project scope and costs, and prepare change order estimates, change order requests, and track changes to final execution.
- Approve/disapprove vendor material and equipment invoices.
- Track and compare project costs against the project budget and forecast project expenses.
- Facilitate the completion of internal and client furnished punch lists.
- Follow-up and successfully remedy warranty issues related to project in a timely manner.
- Maintain excellent relationship with clients.
- Drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours while maintaining a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company policy.

Environment, Physical & Mental Requirements
- Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
- May perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying.
- This position is subject to ergonomic testing.
- Must be able to:
- Lift and/or carry/move up to 40lbs.
- Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Perform repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
- Visit job sites and perform duties with and around hazardous and/or flammable materials, as well as monitor heavy equipment and machinery.
- Complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner.
Safety Sensitive
This position is designated as safety sensitive position because it requires the regular handling of highly sensitive and confidential Company and Client information. Performing this job in a discreet and professional manner requires alertness at all times. Any lapse of attention could have a significant financial impact on the Company and its Clients.
Additionally, this position is designated as safety sensitive because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle and working around heavy equipment and machinery. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety and health of yourself and other personnel, you must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while driving and working around heavy equipment and machinery.
Skills and Competencies
Education
- Must have:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- College degree and/or 5 years of practical MEP construction project knowledge.
Experience
- Must have:
- System controls and electrical design experience.
- Experience and working knowledge of how long it takes and what materials are required to accomplish specific tasks and to make MEP systems operational.
- Good decision making and problem-solving capabilities.
Skills
- Must have:
- Working knowledge of:
- High and low voltage equipment and circuits.
- Construction sequencing.
- Ability to:
- Read and comprehend panel layouts and electrical control schematics.
- Specify controls hardware including PLC, HMI, safety systems components, visions systems, sensor selection, etc.
- Work in a team environment.
- Work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Intermediate math skills for billings, tracking, and forecasting project costs.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Coordinate between controls group and mechanical design group on project development through startup.
- Coordinate System Startups - FAT to final installation.
- A current valid driver's license is required.
