Project Manager - Estimator

Ft. Smith, AR

SUMMARY

Will estimate projects and work within the organization to develop existing and establish new customers. Effectively monitor and manage acquired and assigned projects to ensure progress and profitability.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Review and become familiar with the project drawings and specifications, project contract requirements,
  • and the overall project schedule and when our services will be required.
  • Creates estimates for project budget and bid numbers
  • Develop timeline of labor and material/equipment deliveries and allocation for the project
  • Attend project turnover meeting as successful project is handed from estimating to project management
  • Manage multiple projects and/or multiple trade disciplines (mechanical, sheet metal, plumbing, electrical,
  • insulation, etc.) as determined by the project(s)
  • Prepare material and equipment submittals for approval by engineer
  • Negotiate material and equipment orders with suppliers and vendors to be at or below budget.
  • Effectively manage material and equipment costs for the project to stay within or below budget
  • Effectively manage labor allocations to successfully complete the work with the fewest amount of hours as
  • possible, yet maintain quality and the project schedule
  • Enforce MCC safety practices and procedures on the project and develop site specific safety plan
  • Ensure that MCC quality standards are maintained for all work installed on the project
  • Maintain current as-built drawings throughout the project with project Superintendent/Foremen
  • Effectively manage time delays with client or general contractor.
  • Effectively manage changes in project scope and costs, and prepare change order estimates, change order
  • requests, and track changes to final execution.
  • Assist in preparing monthly client billings
  • Approve/disapprove vendor material and equipment invoices
  • Track and compare project costs against the project budget and forecast project expenses
  • Attend contractor/client meetings as required
  • Generate internal punch list with MCC Superintendent/Foremen and complete items on the list prior to
  • client generated and issued punch list
  • Facilitate the completion of internal and client furnished punch lists.
  • Follow-up and successfully remedy warranty issues related to project in a timely manner
  • Maintain excellent relationship with client.
  • Drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours. Maintain valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company policy
  • Perform other duties as assigned


ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
  • May perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying.
  • This position is subject to ergonomic testing.
  • Must be able to: 
    • Lift and/or carry/move up to 40lbs.
    • Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
    • Perform repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
    • Visit job sites and perform duties with and around hazardous and/or flammable materials, as well as monitor heavy equipment and machinery.
    • Complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities.
    • Work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner.

This position is designated as safety sensitive position because it requires the regular handling of highly sensitive and confidential Company and Client information. Performing this job in a discreet and professional manner requires alertness at all times. Any lapse of attention could have a significant financial impact on the Company and its Clients.


Additionally, this position is designated as safety sensitive because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle and working around heavy equipment and machinery. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety and health of yourself and other personnel, you must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while driving and working around heavy equipment and machinery.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES


Education

  • Must have:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • College degree and/or 5 years of practical Mechanical and Plumbing construction project knowledge with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity

Experience

  • Must have experience and working knowledge of how long it takes and what materials are required to accomplish specific tasks and to make MEP systems operational, specifically rigging and equipment moving.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of construction sequencing.


Skills

  • Must have:
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Good decision making and problem solving capabilities
    • Good organizational and time-management skills


  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
  • A current valid driver’s license is required
  • Preferred knowledge of Mechanical systems to include:
    • Sanitary Plumbing and Domestic Water installation
    • Steam and Condensate Systems
    • Pneumatics and Compressed Air piping
    • Hydraulics
    • Food Grade Process Piping
    • Hydronics Systems
    • Natural Gas Systems
    • Other Piping conveyed gasses and fluid
