Electrical Department Manager
SUMMARY
The Manager is overall responsible for the safety, performance, and profitability of the division/department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Effectively manage department profitably and safety
- Understand all aspects of profit and loss statement and review with key personnel
- Identify and implement cost saving measures
- Ability to communicate with new and existing customers to build a strong and lasting relationship
- Access to Spectrum with intimate knowledge of job cost to monitor current jobs & assist in estimation of current projects
- Coordinate and schedule with HR employee evaluations
- Establish wages for department consistent with local trade specific wages. Award wage increases based on performance measurements, established milestones reached and value the employee has added since the last evaluation
- Develop advancement plans for department employees, which includes a clear organizational structure for each department, as well as a clear individualized path based on their desires and departmental needs
- Identify and address training needs for the overall strength of the department
- Quantify and justify investments in equipment, technology or any other capital expenditure
- Support corporate directives, goals, and policies. Implement same within their division
- Research new customers and their financial status or credit worthiness, as well as monitor existing customer status. Advise other departments of slow or late paying customers, bankruptcy, etc.
- Review project completion and invoicing (cost to complete)
- Assist accounts payable with collections
- Educate departmental employees, explain and enforce company policy
- Authority to hire and terminate if necessary
- Cooperate and Coordinate with other departments in all aspects, establish High Agreement and respect it
- Review and address usage and needs for equipment, cell phones, fuel, credit cards, etc.
- Review cost and management of consumable items and inventories as well as space requirements
- Promote safety and improvements. Review any accident with the employees
- Open honest communication with department personnel
- Encourage and assist in continuous improvement projects
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential duties
- Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties
- Drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours a. Maintain valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company policy
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
- Perform other duties as assigned
ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations
- Work at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single story and multi-story buildings
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
- Must be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including standing and/or walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying
- Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities
- Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner

This position is designated as safety sensitive position because it requires the regular handling of highly sensitive and confidential Company and Client information. Performing this job in a discreet and professional manner requires alertness at all times. Any lapse of attention could have a significant financial impact on the Company and its Clients.
Additionally, this position is designated as safety sensitive because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle and working around heavy equipment and machinery. These positions are ones in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety and health of yourself and other personnel, you must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while working around heavy equipment and machinery.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Must have College degree and/or 10 years of practical industrial/commercial construction electrical project knowledge
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
- Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Must have good decision making and problem solving capabilities
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate clearly with other employees.
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Must have strong math skills for billings, tracking, and forecasting project costs
- Ability to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-work
- Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
- A current valid driver’s license is required
RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in electrical department management or project management
- Background in electrical support to industrial manufacturing and/or/food and beverage customers
- Understanding of the Southern Missouri construction market
